The Curtiss Mansion is the former home of former famed aviator and inventor, Glenn Curtiss. Located in scenic Miami Springs. Curtiss is considered the "Father of Naval Aviation" and was once world famous as the "The Fastest Man on Earth." He created over 500 inventions in his lifetime, and held over 400 patents! Curtiss was not only influential on the world stage, but also locally. He founded Miami Springs, Hialeah, and Opa Locka, as well as the first Miami airport, and the Hialeah Racetrack. The 1925 Pueblo Revival Mansion is currently run by the non-profit Curtiss Mansion, Inc and is a Smithsonian recognized National Historic Site. The Curtiss Mansion is kid friendly and offers a scavenger hunt on paper for the children to look for. Tickets are available for the 10 a.m. Saturday tours only, excluding special events.
